The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce that the WFDF 2019 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships (WU24) will be hosted in the city of Heidelberg, Germany, from Saturday 13th July to Saturday 20th July, 2019. The event will feature national Ultimate teams in the Men’s U24, Women’s U24 and Mixed U24 divisions.

“WFDF is excited to partner with such an experienced tournament organizer and to have WU24 2019 back in Europe for the coming championship. We know that not all national teams were able to make the long trek down under and we encourage maximum participation in next year’s event,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “This is a great showcase for the upcoming talent in our global community and the event nicely complements our upcoming plans for working with FISU in introducing our University Games.”

The successful bid came from newly founded DISC-Respect Sports with the support of Heidelberg Sport and Health Office. The TOC team will be led by Mark Kendall and Martin Rasp who both have significant experience in hosting both national and international Ultimate events.

TOC Event Director Mark Kendall said „Respect for the game of Ultimate is the motivation for the TOC to create the best event possible. With well over 100 years of Ultimate playing and organizing experience, we want to create an event exceeding the expectations of the Ultimate players, the interested spectators around the world, the ancient City of Heidelberg, and the WFDF organization. We invite you all to Heidelberg to PLAY ULTIMATE!”

WFDF expects more than 50 teams from more than 25 countries to compete in the event. The last WU24 was recently held in Perth, Australia earlier this year where the host TOC, the Australian Flying Disc Association, put on a very successful and popular event with 41 teams from 20 countries and nearly 1,000 players flying long distances to the shores of sunny Western Australia.

The WU24 is open to all players who are fourteen (14) years old or older and do not turn twenty-four (24) during the calendar year 2019. While the WU24 is a bi-annual event, the last edition was pushed into January 2018 to make the best use of vacant summer university facilities in Perth. With this shortened window of just 14 months to plan this coming event, and we ask for each of our member National Federations to work closely with WFDF and the TOC to firm up their registrations.
